best way to create a post-hypnotic suggestion

I have studied quite a few dvd-sets i bought (!), being new to hypnotism.
one thing i couldnt find yet, also not here on the site, is how one creates
a good post-hypnotic suggestion, not only for recreating a feeling but also
to re-hypnotize.

Help much appreciated!

They didn't work me for a late time after giving it to them.

I suggested them that the next time I touched their shoulder and said "RELAX...." they were going to close their eyes and RENEMBER (tonality change XD just experimenting) this state of relaxation, and they even were going to double that sensation of relaxation.

Renember that you must reproduce exactly the trigger. Also, you should repeat the post-hypnotic suggestion at least twice to them to renember clearly. And renember that you must be a on a deep level of trance (more or less)

I had problems, because when I said "RELAX..", sometimes the person said: "No no, I dont want to close my eyes, I don't want to be hypnotised."

Hope this helps you a little bit.

You're welcome.

I'm not an expert, but I have more or less an idea of how this thing work XD

Maybe a better hypnotist give you more clues of how to do perfect post-hypnotic suggestions :P

Hey Rudy!
post-hypnotic suggestions eh?
well here are a few tips? :)
1. Induce a trance
2. Select a behavior
3. Induce Amnesia
4. Return to trance
5. Self Esteem suggestions
I'll give you an example lets say we have a friend that smokes and he absolutely loves to play basketball .. well lets follow these steps!
First will put him in a trance next we would selcet how we would want him to feel about smoking and that he would stop next we might induce amnesia, we might make him forget that he liked smoking, next we could bring him out of a trance and 10 minutes later put him back into a trance and then finally we could add some kind of positive or self affirmations about their personality or self esteem etc.

WELL thats part of the information i got off of a fantastic course :)
Hope everything works out!

Thx guys!
Ill give that a go asap :o)
Rudy
p.s. @Grant: Richard Bandler explained once that one should always talk to the subject that all
is happening in present-time when going for these techniques (as if the accomplishment is
already made)....yours seem in the future?
Any reasons for that?

Hey Rudy
ahhhh your right! Good point! Although i'm not sure if you ment past-tense so it would seem like he stopped smoking. Ah i love playing with verb tenses wether the person is concious or not :)
"So you will smoke"
"So you smoke"
"So you have been smoking"
:) playing with verb tenses is really fun and you can do it anywhere any time for any problem! In fact one day I was at school and one of my buddies came up to me and said "Ugh i got a C on a test" Well i thought about this and thought back to an article i read about verb tense's and the first thing i thought to do was... use verb tenses to my advantage! So i began to make him feel better but the first process i took was to put his C in the past, i replyed "Oh so you had a C", and then i continued with a few more (and i used a few other techniques :D ) Anyways i hope you can really... enjoy using verb tenses to your advantage in any situation!
Bye for now!

I have the found the most powerful post hypnotic suggestions are ones attached to some type of emotion or feeling. Typically I like to use a lot of my own energy by being upbeat and I always make sure I have a person in somnambulism before I give a post hypnotic suggestion. This isn't require, but it's my method as It appears the suggestions or PHS stick much better.

Typically I make sure the PHS I'm giving is a positive one and something that adds benefits to the client. For instance, whenever you see the color blue you'll feel a urge grow inside of you to laugh more because laughing feels so good and is healthy for your body. So the more you'll laugh the better you will feel and the better you feel the more healthy you become. I'm really just linking these different actions together and really defining the suggestion. After the first one I tend to shorten it as whenever you see blue your feel a urge to laugh inside of you and you can't hold it back.

I keep repeating the suggestion in a few different ways for about 3 times while using whatever trigger or anchor I want. I typically use my hands on a shoulder as its passive and doesn't seem un natural. I don't like finger snaps, but that is just me. Imagine someone snapping fingers in your ear non stop. It may bother you.

Either way the key is to really get them to a place where the suggestions will stick, make them positive/benefit for the person and speak with confidence. Imagine the suggestion always working as there sub conscious mind can pick up if your not confidence and this will affect your results. Hope this helps

Getting the suggestions to stick is not a set of steps, but an art form in which you are always aware what is going on in the other person. For me I can tell even before I say the suggestion, the level at which it is going to take effect.
