Learn Hypnosis, NLP & Personal Development
I'm not a long time in the hypnosis profession almost 3 years and i never had a Schizophrenic
client. But this one is very personal mater to me.
I wonder if someone how experienced with this case can give me a tip or two on how to handle this ?
To be honest with you, I would only work with a Schizophrenic in conjunction with a Psychiatrist and only after long discussion with that Psychiatrist about the individual's history and as to the best approach for that person and the medication they are currently taking.
It is always more challenging when it is a personal matter, however, it can be done. I do strongly recommend discussing with the Psych first though.
Happy hypnotising :-))
You know Nathan if its a personal matter for you that's probably a good sign you might want to refer out... If they are close to you that is.
If we were to use techniques that go a little bit deeper than the surface, that person's unconscious mind might not want to reveal to someone close to them the same things they would reveal to a more distant professional. Obviously, for anyone working with this type of thing, get a doctor's referral if that is the law in your area, and ensure that you are very highly trained and know your limits. Hypnotists are generally not trained to deal with schizophrenia so anything we do is experimental and should be treated as such...
That being said ... for Schizophrenia I would start off by seeing if you can find something stable in their reality and reinforce it. Start there, and then start releasing all of the rest of it. The idea is that if that person knows they always have a "home base" to return to (and it is ecological, integrated, etc), that will greatly assist them in not feeling overwhelmed by all of the extraneous stuff.
