Learn Hypnosis, NLP & Personal Development

In the time I've been doing hypnosis, I've seen many people who STAY in the beginners stage. They seem to never move beyond that to be an expert.

I want to make one critical distinction, that might discourage some but will certainly make your outlook more accurate.

People who are good, almost ALWAYS have -paid- for training.

Yeap, I know this may shock and surprise some of you, but the fact is that Josh and I have spent more money on hypnosis than probably everyone reading this combined, and we have gone to live trainings and seminars that few people have been able to attend.

Josh and I both offer coaching and training, but we do charge for it. You should be smart with your money, but it's important that you DO spend some money on hypnosis products that you believe in, because that is what will get you better.

Do you think you will learn faster on your own with no clue of what to do, or do you think you would learn faster spending a 3-day bootcamp with me, expert training every minute?

The answer is you'd learn a LOT faster with expert training. a LOT faster.

And not just with me but with every other hypnosis or NLP trainer out there.

Josh and I have run across many people throughout our careers, who just refuse to pay for training, and we have to ask - why are you here? How do you ever expect to become great?

Frankly, guys and girls, we all know that when people with their vote with their wallet, they are voting with something they care about... and when someone won't fork over a couple bucks, to learn something truly valuable, I wonder if they're really serious. In fact, I know they're not.

We know that some people don't have money, some people are highschool and college students, some people are poor, but come on ... there's only so long you can keep up the illusion.

We're here to help you guys, we just want you to be aware... we're not saying you have to buy our training, but the reality is that you're going to have to pay for training at some point in time.

Since time is the most valuable thing we have, do you want to waste yours in learning much slower than you could otherwise?

Just wanted to make you aware, so you can be prepared and be the best hypnotists you can be... Hopefully this doesn't put any of you off from being great hypnotists, but I just wanted you to make you aware of the situation.

Hey Taylor,

This is a great post and I just thought I would chime in with a few thoughts. The purpose of this post is to really just prepare many of you who are beginners. As Taylor has mentioned we have run across so many hypnotists who we both thought could have become the next Elman or Erickson, but just never got to that point. See, there is what I like to call a limit point. We can learn a lot for free and don't get me wrong when I first got started I learned a lot from resources from sites like this one and other resources on the web.

you will find you can actually become pretty good, but being good is just that, good. Why be good when you can become great? There comes a point when you have pretty much soak up all the free information you can and than you are left asking yourself whats next?

This is the point where you will have to make a choice. You can either keep spending tons of time and energy to find a few more free resources or pay for some type of training, which can help you move up to the next level. When I say training I don't just mean seminars. I mean dvds, books, audio products and etc. All of this is a form of a training. The simple fact is this site wouldn't be here without Taylor and me taking training in many different fields such as business, marketing, hypnotism and etc.

There is a reason why THE BEST AND THE ELITE create training products and hold workshops and seminars. Yes, one of the reasons is money, but beyond that is Time, Energy and committement. For instance, if I spent thousands upon thousands of dollars of my money and tons of my time learning than why shouldn't I charge for that knowledge as well. I'm not saying I should rip you off, but it takes time, money and energy to create products. As Taylor said you have to be careful when choosing training because while their are tons of great products, trainers and etc there are also some really awful ones.

I personally will only attend training or purchase products that have personally been recommended to me by other well known hypnotists. So please do be carefully and this site has been created to help you avoid making that financial pitfall. The honest truth is some of the best training in the world is training you will have to pay for. Why? As I said earlier people want to feel as if they are getting something back for their time, money and energy spent. I remember a teacher asked me a question once when I was in school. I remember this quite well because it changed the way I looked at the world.

She asked us in class if we thought the world would be a better place if everything was free? As a young lad I thought the world would be a better place. Heck, I could have all the video games in the world. My teacher said so you think the world would be a better place because everything would be free and you could have anything you want. Well how can you have a video game if their is no one around to make the game. Heck, if everything was free their would be no need for jobs so no one would need to make the product. Eventually our whole financial system would fall off. Things must cost something so people can be paid to produce it.

Heck, what if you went to a job for 2 weeks and they just handed you a thank you note instead of a paycheck. I bet you would be pissed off. The same rules apply for hypnotists. You will also find that many hypnotists will tend to be willing to help you much more as buying a product is just one way, not the only way to show you are committed. So I have gone on a little too long, but once again we just want you to be prepared. Know that at some point if you want to move forward prepare to spend a little money. Luckily you have resources like this site which provide tons of value and to be honest most of it was paid for at one point in time by us or others on this site.

So in closing, we hope this post has prepared you a little and if you ever want to know what is worth your time and energy let us know as we have been through the good and the bad. This site is here to help you become the best and so we felt you need to know this type of information ahead of time.

Hi Taylor

Interesting message, there's a few points that I think are unnecessary, like the claim that you and Josh have spent so much money on training etc, etc, there is no way in this world you could know how much or how little some of us have paid in training, so can I ask you to be a little bit mindful, of the way you present certain types of information, because some of us have taken a lot of time in training and committed a lot of financial resources. In doing so, and would find that particularly remark a little bit flippant, and maybe even condescending.

So would you be kind enough define what you mean by expert? as I am sure we all have our own definition and criteria for what an expert is.

Training is important and is extremely vital. If you're going to be a professional hypnotist/hypnotherapist, they are just some things that are not covered in books and videos that you would get on a live training, So going and doing a live training. At some point, should be permanent in one's mind, one of the important things that attending a live training does, is it gives more credibility to the hypnosis field as a whole, if you had two mechanics, and one had only done training through "fix it" car magazine and the other who had come through and recognized mechanics and engineering training program at the University/College who would you take your car to?

Be happy Mr T and be mindful as well!

Hi Jay,

Nice use of the mechanics story. I also agree that actually training does bring more credibility to the field as compared to self study. Not saying their is anything wrong with self study, but I agree attending paid trainings does bring more credibility. We as a profession already have to fight a uphill battle just to be seen as professionals and when other professionals ask us about our training its just nice to be able to say I trained here and there rather than well, I read this in a book.

Good examples Jay

can u reccomend any particularly good DVD's, books, etc?
or perhaps any seminars, but thats probably out of my budget range

Hey Jay,

This post is to suggest that people can't expect to become experts at their craft without spending a bit of money.

If you've already spent a good bit of money on training then this post isn't geared towards you. It's geared towards the beginners who have never spent money on a live training, for example. Of course I'd expect that if you've already invested significant resources, that you would have moved out of the beginners stage.

So, sorry bro, I'm not a mind reader. I have no idea what your particular experience is, that's why I posted this in hypnosis for beginners.

I think, learning hypnosis techniques from self study programs is not enough to become "expert hypnotist".
Yes, there are some good programs online for learning hypnosis techniques, but there is still need to get practice by a hypnotist - mentor. Especially, to get confidence while doing your first practices.

For example, anyone can learn conversational hypnosis and other techniques from online courses and easily apply them and get results in practice. But it will be hard to apply street and stage hypnosis techniques in a pro level without getting professional training from professional mentor.

Well, I have waited for this one. I agree money needs to be spent BUT, I will also say that some people have become professional STUDENTS! In other words...I have some people just spend and spend and spend on one course after another only to find they never went professional with their craft. I would say take some classes but know when enough is enough. I took a few and was hesitant about others and I am glad I didn't attend some...would have wasted time and money. After some classes...there is nothing like good, old-fashioned experience to teach you the things you need to know.

There are so many trashy classes that only teach you so much...almost like they have hidden secrets close to their vest that no one should know...too freaky for me.

Anyway...learn as best you can...watch you wallet and gain experience.

Hi Rich,

You summed it up quite nice. You have to learn and take action. Learning ll the knowledge in the world once make you a great hypnotist, but experience and tons of practice will. If you combine the two than you are well on your way to becoming a elite hypnotist. As Taylor, I, Rich and others in this thread mentioned. Don't waste your money because like any profession where learning material is needed money can be wasted. Ask around, talk to others and find out what trainings and resources are needed for you.

This is one reason actually seminars or workshops can be great because any good one will give you tons of practice time. I will be doing another post here about this as so many new hypnotists are afraid of failing or being laughed at. I never view a failure as a failure, but a lesson to teach me more. I have always learned more from a set back than any success. I will talk about this more in the next lesson.

I surely believe you Taylor and look forward to some training. I know this for a fact in many fields. Just fishing the rivers here or elsewhere; The results-people imitating others and not catching fish. A guide saves so much time and one gets positive results usually till the ropes are learned. Great point, John... Guides, in any area of life, speed up our journey. Whether that's in fishing, or hypnosis. Great metaphors.

Investing in training is one of the easiest and most efficient ways to improve your skills over time instead of stagnating. Even if you've only been doing hypnosis for one year, ask yourself if you have one year of experience or if you have 1 month of experience twelve times? If it is the later, then it is time to break out of your rut and get some training or decide that you don't want to get any better.

I understand the eneccesity of money and a mentor and a guide, and I really have dedication and desire to learn but I cannot afford classes, especially multiple ones. I mean are you really counting out the ability to share information, lessons we've learned, and advice to help someone build enough skills, not to be professional, but to be a succesful hypnotist?
