In The Begiing....
May I suggest that you decide what type of hypnosis you are REALLY interested in. I mean, many "newbies" seem to have fallen in love with hypnosis thanks to the new-found videos on YouTube. Many have seen some pretty slick editing and have watched a variety of finger-snapping drop-them-in-the-street hypnotists and have decided..."Hey! That's What I Want To Do!" Unfortunately for those who are more serious about the craft, the industry gets turned into a joke ....after many years of being laughed at as being nothing less than a stage trick. So, for yourself, as well as those of us in the business, please make sure that this is what you want to do and give it your absolute best. Don't treat it as a way of goofing on your friends. Give it 100% and you'll be happy you did. There are Hypnotherapists who dedicate their lives to using hypnosis to help many people, there are Stage Hypnotists who work hard promoting hypnosis and making a living with their craft, their are Street Hypnotists who usually do their instant and rapid inductions part time to promote either their stage shows or their therapy business and there are the parlor trick hypnotist who never really learn much more than how to do an induction and a few routines (they worry me), but you should decide where you want to go with it and how much you are willing to dedicate to doing it the right way.

Hi Rich,

Once again this is a great post and thanks for adding it to our group. This is an important think for beginners to think about in the beginning and even after they get some knowledge on the subject. In the beginning for me it was all about learning as much as I could about hypnosis. I wanted to see what was out there and what was possible.

After I studied hypnosis for a while I noticed I really seemed to enjoy the whole working with clients in an office field and so I drifting toward clinical based hypnosis or in other words helping people with everyday problems in an office setting. It took me about 2 years before I really decided which field I wanted to focus on. Now this doesn't mean you can't enjoy all of them, but its just something to keep in the back of your mind.
