Learn Hypnosis, NLP & Personal Development

Hey all,

I had a bit of a brain freeze and posted the following discussion in the forum section of this website. So if you've read it there already, then you get it twice here ;).

-------------------

Hi everyone,

I hope your new year is going well.

Below is an excerpt for our upcoming Regression Hypnosis Guidebook (part of our Releasing Emotions through Regression Hypnosis DVD Program)

Let's hear your thoughts on how the subconscious mind communicates and its relation to Regression Hypnosis.

Best wishes for the new year,
Matt Sison

----------------------------

Have you ever seen someone try to talk to someone else that does not understand their language?

Randy Shaw writing: “I once saw a Postal clerk having a difficult time with a customer that spoke Spanish but almost no English. The Postal worker began talking very loud, as if the Spanish speaking person could understand better if he yelled. It was funny to watch but silly to think that talking louder will help the other person understand a different language.”

You may think this assessment is ludicrous but many hypnotists are trying to yell at the subconscious minds of their clients by attempting to overpower it with direct suggestions, logic, psychological treatments, or tricks of language and speech - instead of speaking its language and getting its willing cooperation.

By mis-understanding and probably unknowingly dis-respecting it (by the perception of the subconscious mind), instead of seeking cooperation with the subconscious mind, you risk disturbing its “perfect” world and causing it to bring more evidence to the contrary of your conscious goal – causing it to turn the subconscious mind into a 600 pound gorilla that then makes the problem or issue of the client much worse (which it may do because it has a calling to fulfill whether the hypnotist understands that calling or not. What is that calling? To secure the personal definitions of the client; their accumulative programming.)

Once you understand and can teach your clients to listen to, respect and respond to their feelings, you not only increase your effectiveness, you get your clients into hypnosis with a fraction of the effort that traditional inductions require, because the subconscious mind is listening - when you respect its language. And you will acquire a lot more compliance. It becomes a flow that once you fully consciously grasp, you’ll never want to go back to the rigidness of formal inductions - or hammering hypnotic suggestions into the head of clients, in a battle against all that power in the subconscious mind.

Later we will talk about WIIFM: what’s in it for me. This concept is very crucial to getting increased cooperation from the subconscious mind, because it does not give a darn about logic or obligation. The Subconscious Mind focuses on feelings, emotions, sensations, impressions, patterns; because it is activated by perceptions, and reacts (works) out of associations and familiarity (not historical correctness or truth).

I'm just bringing over posts from the forum over here due to my brain freeze (which I explain above)

-------------

Wow!!!! WIIFM is a concept my dad uses a lot when referring to Dr Phil. Your posts have continued to drive my interests in regression therapy. I have very little training in regression but have used it a couple of times in test runs. I follow the NLP approach as it relates to regression. Being that this is your niche, can you make a suggestion for where to start a foundational education for regression therapy in hypnosis...and I wouldn't consider it a corny plug if you consider your own personal works a great place to start. Reading your information and the care and understanding you deliver along with it has given me a great level of respect for the spirit in which you go about your work.

Hello Hypno_Ra,

Thank you for sharing your comments. I'm thoroughly joyed that you have found some informative and inspiring insight into my posts. This is why I am here (WIIFM) ;).

Of course I'm going to plug our products first ;)... But I will say that you will at least need a good grasp of hypnosis basics before you study our DVD programs. Which it sounds like you have.

As far as regression basics, a good place to start would probably be Stephen Parkhill's book "Answer Cancer." This really is a great base knowledge of regression hypnosis. You can download it for under 10 bucks - http://www.omnihypnosis.com/anscan.htm

I do feel that if you have a good grasp of hypnosis basics and read that book you'll be ready for our DVD programs: www.regression-hypnotherapy.com

If you think you need a deeper understanding of regression hypnosis basics and want to take a course, below are some suggestions:

1) Omnihypnosis - you can find thier website suggested above
2) Cal Banyan's - 5 path training course - www.hypnosiscenter.com

I hope I have answered your inquiry. If you need more assistance feel free to ask.

"You may think this assessment is ludicrous but many hypnotists are trying to yell at the subconscious minds of their clients"

Great analogy and bridge.

Getting someone's feelings involved in the process, as Matt and Randy have discovered, can be very powerful and will change the person. I credit Judith Swack for helping me to understand that we must work with clients at all levels - mental, physical, and spiritual. I usually treat emotions as physical as well.

In doing life coaching, while I do tons of mental exercises, I usually will suggest or have them do something that affects the physical body as well - whether that's EFT, swimming, weight-lifting, cross-crawls, massage, or any other exercise that helps to jumpstart the process.

What has worked out is that once you get the physical/emotional body working, the mental changes will come a lot easier because what was really causing a stuck-state was some neurons firing the wrong way, or some muscles that needed to be massaged out.

Happy New Years ;)

Right on. We holistic folks use the term "the bodymind" to name this essential relationship of somatic thought/feeling to verbal or pictorial thought and feeling. They are actually one and the same. Anyone who has worked with trauma knows that the memories are literally IN the body's tissue, and must be directly accessed... you can go all 'thinkythinky' (linear-rational) about something, and that's another great level of consciousness to contribute to healing work, but if you don't get into the body, you won't effect the shift you want!

Me too, Taylor, I work with emotional feelings the same way I work with other physical sensations: where is it in your tissue? & what is the quality of the sensation? are the questions whose answers give a handle to "move" the feeling!

Great topic, thanks guys!
